Cloud hunting on Nang Tien peak
In recent years, young people and experiential travel enthusiasts have increasingly sought out destinations that retain their pristine beauty to “check in” and immerse themselves in nature. Amid the majestic mountain-and-forest scenery, people seem to slow down, momentarily setting aside everyday worries. Nang Tien peak, located in Khuoi Nan 2 hamlet, Na Ri commune, Thai Nguyen province, is one such destination.

From the center of Na Ri commune, the distance to Nang Tien mountain is only about 5 km. Although not far, reaching the summit requires visitors to trek more than 1.5 km through forest trails with fairly steep terrain. It is precisely this challenging journey that adds to the appeal of the cloud-hunting experience here.

Standing on the summit at an elevation of over 600 m above sea level in the early morning, when the first rays of sunlight pierce through the clouds, the scenery appears shimmering and dreamlike, like a fairyland. White clouds, soft as silk ribbons, drape across the hillsides, swirl around the peak, drift down over terraced fields, and gently skim rooftops in the pure morning light.

A check-in moment amidst a vast sea of white clouds on Nang Tien peak

The moment of witnessing the entire mountainous region awaken beneath a sea of floating clouds brings a sense of peace and awe. Layers of clouds drift lightly to greet the first light of dawn, creating a range of emotions. The clouds constantly change shape and color, while visitors remain absorbed in the view, drifting with nature and capturing stunning photos.

From around 7:00 to 10:00 a.m., as the sun rises higher, the sea of clouds takes on a soft pinkish-white hue, stretching endlessly to the horizon and enveloping the mountain ranges. The radiant, magical landscape gradually reveals itself through successive layers of cloud, illuminating the entire space. It feels as though all daily stress and worries dissolve, allowing people to fully merge with the mountains and forests, becoming relaxed, refreshed, and full of energy.

Early morning clouds on Nang Tien peak only appear on beautiful sunny days

According to experienced visitors, early morning clouds on Nang Tien peak appear only on days with clear sunshine, but a key prerequisite is rainfall beforehand. If dry weather persists for a long time, even a bright sunny day may not produce clouds. Even seasoned “cloud hunters” do not encounter a perfect sea of clouds every time they climb the mountain. Some days bring intense sunshine and sparse clouds; on others, thick clouds billow up from the valleys, heavy and dense, obscuring the sunlight.

Nang Tien mountain boasts diverse natural landscapes

Nang Tien peak is not only attractive for its sea of clouds but also possesses diverse natural landscapes with red-leaf maple forests and clear, cool waterfalls. Tourists can camp overnight, gaze at the starry sky, and see the center of Na Ri commune sparkling with lights as night falls.

On the return journey, visitors can stop by the mystical and enchanting Nang Tien Cave, stroll through the ancient quarter with its time-worn wooden houses, and savor traditional cakes such as banh duc (steamed rice cake), banh ngo (corn cake), banh quay (fried dough sticks)... rustic local treats that leave an unforgettable aftertaste.

Setting foot on Nang Tien peak and immersing oneself amidst the pure, floating sea of white clouds is a poetic and fortunate experience. For those who love nature and are passionate about cloud hunting, this is undoubtedly a destination not to be missed, at least once in a lifetime.
