Training course updates knowledge for tour guides and on-site tour guiding skills
On the morning of March 16, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the Provincial Tourism Association, held the opening ceremony of the 2026 training course to update knowledge for tour guides and on-site tour guiding skills.

The training course is held in 3 days (from March 16 to 18, 2026) with the aim of providing practical knowledge and improving professional qualifications for tourism personnel serving visitors. At the same time, it seeks to build a professional and friendly tourism workforce that meets the requirements for innovation and tourism development of the locality, while standardizing professional skills in accordance with regulations.

The training course has 60 trainees, including domestic and international tour guides managed by Thai Nguyen Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism whose tour guide cards have expired or are about to expire and who need to attend the knowledge-updating course in 2026 to complete documents for renewing their tour guide cards in accordance with regulations. Trainees also include cultural officials of communes and wards in areas with tourism development potential; officials, civil servants, public employees and workers currently providing guiding services at tourist sites and attractions in the province; as well as organizations and individuals engaged in tourism business in the province.

Trainees will be provided with general knowledge about tourism, including legal normative documents on tourism and related state management documents; an overview of tourism development in Vietnam; the current situation and development orientation of tourism in Thai Nguyen; and information on new tourism products and key tourism products. In addition, trainees will study theoretical aspects of tour guiding through specialized topics such as the psychological characteristics of tourists by market, gender and age; verbal and body-language communication skills; situation-handling skills; procedures for on-site tour guiding; specialized tour guiding skills; and professional assessment.

In his opening remarks at the training course, Mr. Nguyen Chu Thu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, affirmed that tour guides and those directly serving visitors are considered the core force playing an important role in tourism development. Therefore, enhancing knowledge, improving professional skills, updating new information and building a professional service style for tourism personnel are extremely necessary and urgent tasks. The training course is organized with the expectation of providing trainees with additional professional knowledge, skills and practical experience in tour guiding and visitor services. Through the course, trainees will have the opportunity to listen to, exchange and learn from experts and experienced lecturers in the tourism field, while also sharing practical experiences from their work. This will help improve their professional qualifications and vocational skills, enabling them to continue making positive contributions to the overall development of the province’s tourism sector.
