Thai Nguyen publicly discloses list of OCOP products with expired certifications
Thai Nguyen Province's Department of Agriculture and Environment has issued Official Document No. 2700/SNNMT-KTHT&PTNT dated March 25 on notifying the list of OCOP (One Commune One Product) products whose certifications have expired and products whose certifications will expire in 2026, with a view to strengthening management, ensuring transparency and maintaining product quality on the market.

Specifically, following a review of OCOP product recognition decisions from Thai Nguyen Province and Bac Kan Province (prior to the merger), together with district-level localities, the province currently has 202 OCOP products whose 36-month certification periods have expired as prescribed. In addition, many other products will also expire during 2026. The expired products are concentrated mainly in the food group, particularly tea products - a key local strength - distributed across numerous communes and wards such as Tan Cuong, La Bang, Phu Lac and Vo Tranh, among others. Also included are agricultural products, processed foods, beverages, medicinal herbs and handicrafts. The Department of Agriculture and Environment requires OCOP entities with expired products to refrain entirely from using the OCOP certification mark (star logo) on packaging and labeling when circulating products on the market from the date of expiration. Any violation will be handled in accordance with the provisions of the law.

For products whose certifications have expired or will expire in 2026, producers are encouraged to proactively complete their documentation to register for re-evaluation and re-classification if desired. Commune and ward People's Committees are responsible for notifying, guiding and supporting producers throughout the process of preparing their dossiers. Concurrently, the list of OCOP products with expired certifications will be publicly disclosed so that agencies, organizations and the public are informed and can participate in oversight.

Local authorities have also been required to step up inspection and management of the use of the OCOP certification mark within their jurisdictions. The Department of Agriculture and Environment has requested that relevant departments and agencies, including those responsible for industry and trade, science and technology, health and culture, sports and tourism, coordinate closely in conducting inspections, supervision and support for producers in completing their re-evaluation dossiers. At the same time, provincial press agencies are responsible for disseminating and publicly disclosing information about expired products in order to raise awareness among the public and businesses, thereby contributing to protecting the reputation and quality of OCOP products on the market.

The review and publication of the list of products with expired certifications is assessed as a necessary step that contributes to tightening management, ensuring transparency and sustaining the quality and brand value of the OCOP Program in Thai Nguyen.
