Nearly 1,100 hectares of fruit trees meet VietGAP standards
Thai Nguyen currently has nearly 18,500 hectares of fruit trees. In recent years, the province has focused on developing key fruit trees based on maximizing the potentials and advantages of ecological regions; improving quality, added value and competitiveness of products; and forming concentrated production areas towards safety, associated with market demand.

Thai Nguyen province currently has more than 2,100 hectares of pomelo
For the past time, the province has developed with a focus on types of fruit trees that are the province's strengths, specialties, and key products such as custard apple, longan and pomelo, using new varieties with high productivity and quality suitable to soil conditions. To date, 70% to 80% of the fruit tree cultivation areas use new varieties, especially for key fruit tree cultivation areas. The whole province currently has over 1,000 hectares of custard apple with an output of over 10,000 tons/year; over 2,100 hectares of pomelo; and nearly 1,800 hectares of longan producing about 12,660 tons. To date, concentrated fruit tree production areas of about 2,000 hectares have been formed in the province.
In addition to restructuring fruit crop varieties, farmers also apply technical advances to production (applying water management technology, watering with water-saving irrigation systems; applying safe fruit tree production processes according to VietGAP standards...). Thereby, contributing to raising the area of some fruit trees with high economic value. Currently, the whole province has nearly 1,100 hectares of fruit trees granted VietGAP certificates. Besides, farmers actively introduce new varieties with high productivity and good quality into new planting or replacing old, degenerated tree areas, focusing on key fruit tree varieties. Specifically in 2025, the whole province newly planted about 100 hectares of custard apple, 100 hectares of pomelo, and 80 hectares of longan.

Concentrated fruit tree production areas contribute to improving product quality and value
To develop sustainably, in the coming time, Thai Nguyen will continue to orient and plan suitable planting areas, encourage farmers to apply safe farming processes and simultaneously strengthen support for trade promotion and consumption connection, contributing to stabilizing output and enhancing the value of fruit trees in the province.
