On the afternoon of May 12, Comrade Vuong Quoc Tuan, Member of the Central Party Executive Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the 2nd Session of the Provincial People's Committee to evaluate the socio-economic development task implementation situation in April, tasks for May 2026 and discuss and give opinions on a number of contents under authority. Attending the Session were leaders of the Provincial People's Council and the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of provincial departments, boards and sectors.

Socio-economic performance in the first four months of 2026 posts many positive results
According to the report at the Session, the socio-economic situation in April and the first 4 months of 2026 continued to achieve many positive results in almost all fields. In the industrial sector, although the index of industrial production (IIP) in April was estimated to decrease by 5.04% compared to the previous month, generally in the first 4 months of the year, the IIP increased by 18.52% compared to the same period in 2025. This increase is significantly higher than previous years, continuing to affirm that industry is the main growth driver of the province.

State budget revenue up to May 3 reached 40.5% of the estimate assigned by the Prime Minister, equaling 150.9% compared to the same period last year. Export activities in April increased by 11% compared to the same period. In the first 4 months of the year, the whole province had 744 newly registered enterprises with a total registered capital of over VND 11,317 billion. Investment attraction continued to achieve positive results; in April alone, the province decided on the investment policy for 4 non-budget projects with a total capital of VND 1,290 billion; and simultaneously newly granted 5 FDI projects with a total registered capital of USD 340.6 million. The public investment capital disbursement progress was focused on directing, with the accumulation from the beginning of the year up to now reaching 22% of the assigned plan.
The agriculture and forestry sector continued to develop stably. Tourism activities maintained growth momentum; in April, the whole province welcomed over 681,500 visitors, including about 34,200 international visitors; total tourism revenue was estimated at over VND 954 billion. In the fields of science, technology and innovation, specialized agencies are coordinating with Thai Nguyen University to advise on establishing the Viet Bac Region Innovation Center; and simultaneously perfecting conditions to sign a cooperation agreement between the Provincial People's Committee and Thai Nguyen University, creating a foundation to promote the innovation ecosystem in the area. Cultural and social fields were focused on deployment. The situation of political security and social order and safety was ensured.

Delivering directing remarks at the Session, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan emphasized that to achieve the growth target for the whole year 2026, the second quarter must achieve a growth rate of 11.5%, thereby creating a favorable foundation for implementing tasks in the third and fourth quarters.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee required departments, sectors and localities must focus highly on socio-economic development tasks; in which they are required to continue maintaining industrial growth momentum and simultaneously effectively exploit the potential and advantages of agricultural, tourism and service sectors, striving to achieve the highest results. Furthermore, these entities must continue to maintain the effectiveness of the "green lane" mechanism in resolving administrative procedures for key projects and soon complete the establishment of the Provincial Industrial Production Association.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed to strengthen investment attraction in a more proactive and drastic direction. Regarding public investment, prioritize resources to deploy key works and projects with high spillover effects. He required reviewing all projects, for units with slow disbursement progress, they must be timely reminded, urged and their responsibilities clarified. The disbursement of public investment capital and National Target Program capital sources must be closely monitored, focusing on removing difficulties and obstacles regarding investment procedures; when allocated capital sources, they are required to focus on deploying disbursement implementation immediately.
For urgent works on dykes and anti-flooding, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee required close coordination with Central agencies to accelerate the implementation progress. Particularly for the urgent Project to overcome the flooding situation in Phan Dinh Phung ward being deployed, it is necessary to review and evaluate the effectiveness in the Hoang Van Thu area to implement an appropriate plan. Before May 20, related units must report the investment plan for the conduit, drainage canal and regulation lake systems for the province to consider and direct.
Along with that, agencies and units must continue reviewing, arranging and arranging the cadre contingent in accordance with regulations; and proactively remove difficulties, determined to complete the set goals and tasks.
