Thai Nguyen implements the tea industry development plan for the 2025 - 2030 period
On March 9, Comrade Nguyen Thi Loan, Vice Chairwoman of Provincial People's Committee, signed to issue Plan No. 86/KH-UBND on implementing Resolution No. 11-NQ/TU dated February 3, 2025 of Provincial Party Executive Committee on developing Thai Nguyen tea industry for the 2025 - 2030 period, aiming to concretize goals, tasks and solutions to bring the tea industry towards sustainable and modern development, increasing the added value and Thai Nguyen tea brand in domestic and international markets.

According to the plan, the province sets the goal of developing the tea industry associated with restructuring the agricultural sector in a sustainable direction, promoting safe and organic production and applying science and technology, innovation and digital transformation in the entire production, processing and business chain, while also preserving and promoting the cultural and historical values of Thai Nguyen tea and promoting the advertising, consumption and export of products.
By 2030, the whole province strives to reach a tea area of about 24,500 hectares, with a fresh tea bud output of 300,000 tons; 70% of the tea area certified for production according to GAP or organic standards and 70% of the area granted planting area codes. All tea production, processing and business establishments ensure food safety regulations.

Along with that, the province targets that 100% of enterprises and cooperatives having tea raw material areas will apply digital technology in production chain management and product traceability; at least 250 tea products achieve 3- to 5-star OCOP standards, including six 5-star OCOP products; 100% of tea products and tea-derived products are traded on e-commerce platforms. The total product value obtained from tea plants by 2030 reaches about VND 25,000 billion.
To achieve the above goals, the province will focus on synchronously implementing many tasks and solutions such as: Reviewing and planning tea production areas according to GAP and organic standards; protecting the existing tea area, expanding raw material areas; and replacing old tea varieties with high-yield and high-quality varieties.
In addition, Thai Nguyen promotes the application of science and technology in tea production and processing, strengthens mechanization and applies digital technology and artificial intelligence in quality control and traceability, while also developing the deep processing industry and diversifying tea products such as food, beverages, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics to improve added value.

Activities to promote tea culture, organize Thai Nguyen Tea Festival and connect tourism with tea areas will also be strengthened to improve the economic and cultural values of the tea industry.
In addition, the province will develop eco-tourism and experiential tourism models in tea areas; build tourism villages associated with tea culture, homestays, farmstays and typical tourism products, contributing to promoting the image of "Experiencing the tea land – Imbued with identity".
