The 220kV Phu Binh 2 Substation and the 220kV Phu Binh 2 transmission line branching from Thai Nguyen to Bac Giang, with a total investment of VND 559.2 billion, began construction on September 4, 2024 and were energized on April 14, 2025. The project includes two 250MVA transformers (in the first phase) and a dual-circuit 220kV transmission line over 9 km long. It plays a crucial role in providing a stable electricity supply to the southern region of Thai Nguyen province, especially for its rapidly developing industrial parks and clusters.

The project for 04 110kV outgoing feeders from the 220kV Phu Binh 2 Substation, with a total investment of over VND 170 billion, was energized on May 20, 2025. It involved the construction of four new 110kV transmission lines and the renovation and undergrounding of over 1.1 km of a 22kV line passing through Phu Binh commune, Diem Thuy commune, Pho Yen ward and Song Cong ward. The project holds practical significance in enhancing the capacity for a stable and continuous power supply, serving local socio-economic development.

Speaking at the Ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Duc Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Government Party Committee, emphasized: This is a project of strategic significance and a vivid testament to the spirit of political determination, innovation and creativity, materializing the major policies of the Party and Government on developing power infrastructure and ensuring national energy security. He praised the emulation spirit in labor and the effective coordination among local party committees, authorities, businesses and construction units in completing the project ahead of schedule under difficult conditions.

Also at the Ceremony, the representative of the Standing Party Committee of Vietnam Electricity affirmed that the synchronous completion of these two projects ahead of the Fourth Party Congress of the Group holds practical significance. It helps to create an emulation spirit throughout the entire sector and resolves bottlenecks in the transmission infrastructure, while also enhancing the power supply capacity to serve socio-economic development and attract investment to Thai Nguyen. It is also a testament to the decisive and effective leadership and implementation capacity of the Northern Power Corporation during its transition period of power grid modernization.

On this occasion, the Party Committee of Vietnam Electricity awarded collectives for their outstanding achievements in directing and implementing the Project. The Chairman of Thai Nguyen Province People's Committee presented Certificates of Merit to the Northern Power Corporation, Thai Nguyen Power Company and the Director of Thai Nguyen Power Company for their achievements in ensuring national energy security and contributing to local socio-economic development in 2025. Vietnam Electricity and EVNNPC also presented Certificates of Commendation to many exemplary collectives and individuals involved in the project's construction.
