Thai Nguyen is determined to strive to achieve an economic growth rate of 11% in 2026
In 2026, Thai Nguyen province has been assigned by the Government an economic growth target of 11% under Resolution No. 01/NQ-CP dated January 8, 2026 on the main tasks and solutions for implementing the socio-economic development plan and state budget estimates for 2026. This growth rate is higher than the province’s initial target (10.5%) and at the same time places significant requirements and pressure on the province, especially in the context that its economic growth rate in 2025 reached only 6.33%.
Provincial leaders regularly inspect and urge relevant units to carry out assigned tasks in order to ensure overall progress
The upward adjustment of the growth target clearly reflects the Central Government’s strong political determination to promote localities to fully leverage their potential and advantages and make active contributions to the country’s overall growth. For Thai Nguyen, achieving this target requires the synchronous participation of the entire political system, the business community and all people, with a proactive, creative and decisive spirit in leadership, direction and administration.
According to the set targets, to achieve a GRDP growth rate of 11% in 2026, the province’s gross regional domestic product at constant prices needs to reach approximately VND 135.9 trillion, while GRDP at current prices is expected to exceed VND 220.4 trillion. Of this total, the industry–construction sector will continue to serve as the main driving force of the economy, with a targeted growth rate of over 12.6%; the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector is expected to grow by around 4%; and the services sector by over 10.5%.
Industry is the top important pillar to realize growth target
Industry - construction sector is identified as the foremost pillar in achieving the growth objective. The province will focus on removing difficulties for industrial production, particularly for large enterprises and FDI enterprises; accelerating the progress of key projects and high-tech processing and manufacturing projects; and improving the operational efficiency of industrial parks and clusters. The industrial production index (IIP) is targeted to increase by 14.5% or more, providing a solid foundation for overall growth and promoting an increase of 12% and more in export turnover in the province.
Along with industry, the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector will continue to be restructured toward higher added value and sustainable development. The province will focus on developing the forest economy, high-tech agriculture and commodity-oriented agriculture linked with processing, brand building and market expansion. The effective exploitation of land potential and forest resources, together with the stabilization of traditional agricultural production, will make an important contribution to the province’s overall growth.
Promoting consumption stimulus during Tet, contributing to increasing local budget revenue
The services sector is expected to create additional room for new growth, particularly in trade, logistics, tourism, finance and banking, education and healthcare. Thai Nguyen will continue to promote its role as a regional center for education–training and healthcare in the northern midland and mountainous area, while accelerating tourism development associated with distinctive cultural, historical and ecological values, thereby gradually increasing the proportion of the services sector in the economic structure.
Strong determination in leadership and direction, together with the effective exploitation of development drivers, will serve as an important foundation for the province’s efforts to successfully fulfill the growth target assigned by the Central Government.
