Overview of the Conference

The Conference was attended by leaders of the Department of Ethnic Affairs and Religion; the State Legal Aid Center (Department of Justice); representatives from several specialized departments of the Department of Health, along with nearly 90 delegates who are respected figures among ethnic minority communities.

At the Conference, delegates were propagated a number of contents such as: Overview of the Scheme on "Minimizing child marriage and consanguineous marriage in ethnic minority areas"; Plan to implement the Scheme on " Minimizing child marriage and consanguineous marriage in ethnic minority areas in Thai Nguyen province for 2021 – 2025 period; Law on Marriage and Family; Laws on women, children, gender equality and population; legal regulations related to child marriage and consanguineous marriage; harmful effects of child marriage and consanguineous marriage on human health and life; knowledge and skills for communication and counseling on reducing child marriage and consanguineous marriage. Rapporteurs propagating and exchanging at the Conference

The Conference was organized to raise legal awareness and social responsibility among communities and residents in ethnic minority and mountainous areas regarding the implementation of legal provisions on marriage and family; to create behavioral changes and reduce child marriage and consanguineous marriage among ethnic minority communities, contributing to improving population quality and human resources in ethnic minority and mountainous areas across the province. Additionally, the Conference aimed to foster close coordination between relevant agencies in implementing legal awareness activities; mobilize the combined strength of all levels and sectors and promote the role of respected figures in ethnic minority communities to participate in advocacy work and eliminate outdated customs in marriage that still exist in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

This is one of the activities within the Scheme on minimizing child marriage and consanguineous marriage in ethnic minority areas of Thai Nguyen province (phase 2) for 2021-2025 period.
