1. Medical
The total number of medical examination and treatment facilities in the area was 818, in which there were 25 hospitals (20 state-managed hospitals and 5 non-state hospitals); 14 regional polyclinics, 178 commune health stations; 29 health stations of agencies, enterprises, schools and 572 other medical examination and treatment facilities (individual household business clinics).
The total number of hospital beds in the province was 7.695 beds, an increase of 354 beds (+4.8%) compared to 2019; including 6.795 beds in hospitals, an increase of 5.5%. The average number of hospital beds of medical facilities (excluding beds of medical stations) per ten thousand people in 2020 was 52 beds, an increase of two beds per ten thousand people compared to 2019. The reason for the increase was that due to the development of 01 private hospital in the area (Pho Yen Town) and a number of hospitals have expanded and repaired, the number of beds has increased.
The number of medical employees in the province was 8.902 people, an increase of 11% compared to 2019, in which 7.192 people work in the medical industry and 1.710 people work in the pharmaceutical industry. The average number of doctors per ten thousand people has increased from 16.2 doctors in 2019 to 16.7 doctors in 2020.
In 2020, the rate of children under 1 year of age fully vaccinated with vaccines reached 97.5%, lower than 0.9 percentage points compared to 2019; the rate of children under 5 years of age malnourished weight-for-age decreased to 9.8%, decreased by 0.8 percentage points compared to 2019.
2. Sport
In 2020, Thai Nguyen Sport was generally affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic, but in the year also participated and won 203 medals of all kinds in domestic competitions. Including 64 gold medals, decreased by 41 medals compared to 2019 but reaching 182% of the year plan; achieved 62 silver medals (decreased by 52 medals compared to 2019) and equal to 155% of the plan; Bronze medal reached 77 and equal to 171% of the year plan. Not participating in the World sports tournament in 2020.
Facing the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the functional sector has organized sports activities in accordance with actual conditions, ensuring epidemic prevention for sports activities in the area. During the year, the industry hosts 03 national sports tournaments; 16 sports tournaments at the provincial level and in collaboration with other sectors and units to organize 30 tournaments.
