SOME FEATURES ABOUT AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY AND FISHERY IN 2020

 

1. Agriculture

        The production value of agriculture, forestry and fishery in 2020 (at 2010 constant prices) reached 14.060.1 billion VND, an increase of 4.3% compared to 2019. In which, the agricultural production value reached 13.016.9 billion VND (+3.9%); forestry sector reached 559.4 billion VND (+9.7%); the fisheries sector reached 483.8 billion VND (+8.1%). In the structure of production value of agriculture, forestry and fishery: the agricultural sector accounted for the highest proportion, reaching 92.6% (in which, the cultivation industry accounted for 42.7%; the livestock industry accounted for 47.8%), followed by the forestry sector accounting for 4%, the rest was the fishery sector.

       Total annual planting area in 2020 reached 114 thousand hectares, decreased by 0.67% (equivalent to a decrease of 769 hectares) compared to 2019 (Winter-spring crop decreased by 0.2%; Summer crop decreased by 1.2% in the same period). In which, the area of grain crops was 86,000 hectares, decreased by 1.35% in the same period and accounting for 75.2% of the total cultivated area; vegetables and beans of all kinds reached 16.1 thousand hectares, increased by 5.5% compared to the same period (increasing 832 hectares) and accounting for 14.1% of the total annual crop area. 

      Total grain production in 2020 reached 460.2 thousand tons, decreased by 3.7 thousand tons (-0.8%) compared to 2019; in which rice production reached 383.4 thousand tons, decreased by 1.3 thousand tons and maize production reached 76.8 thousand tons, decreased by 2.5 thousand tons.

         The total available tea area as of the end of 2020 was 22,399 hectares, an increase of 0.5% (+117 hectares) compared to the same period last year, of which the tea production area was 19.754 hectares, decreased by 1.6% (-328 hectares). The average tea yield was 123.74 quintals/hectare, an increase of 4.6 quintals/hectare, so the output of fresh bud tea reached 244.4 thousand tons, an increase of 5.2 thousand tons (+2.2%) compared to the production amount in 2019

          In 2020, livestock production in the area faced many difficulties such as foot-and-mouth disease on buffaloes and cows; African Swine Fever; price of animal feed increased, the price of piglets remained high due to limited supply; Avian influenza epidemic occurred in some neighboring provinces, affecting the farmers' psychology... However, due to timely and effective response solutions, livestock production in 2020 was still achieved certain results. And although the cultivation area decreased due to intensive farming, the harvest productivity increased, contributing to improving the product value per hectare of agricultural land.

         According to livestock survey results, as of January 01, 2021: The buffalo herd reached nearly 44.4 thousand heads, decreased by 3.3% compared to the same period; herd of cattle 46.3 thousand heads, decreased by 8%; the province's total pig herd of 591.8 thousand heads, an increase of 37.8% (corresponding to an increase of 162.2 thousand heads); poultry flock 15.1 million heads, decreased by 5.5% compared to the same period (January 01, 2020)

         About the output of live meat for slaughter: The total output of live meat for slaughter in 2020 reached 147.7 thousand tons, an increase of 7.2% compared to 2019; in which live pork was about 84.3 thousand tons, increased by 0.8%; poultry production was 52.1 thousand tons, increased by 13.2% (chicken production alone was 48.3 thousand tons, increased by 4.2 thousand tons, corresponding to an increase of 9.6% compared to 2019).

        Regarding farm development: in 2020, whole province will have 761 farms (738 livestock farms; 6 farming farms; 6 forestry farms; 2 aquaculture farms and 9 general farms). Compared to July 01, 2019 increased 72 farms, corresponding to an increase of 10.4%; in which forestry farm (+3); general farm (+7); livestock farms (+70); the rest reduced 1 farming farm and 5 seafood farms.  

2. Forestry

       The total area of newly planted forests concentrated in the area in 2020 was 4.721 hectares, a decrease of 675 hectares (-12.5%) compared to the newly planted area in 2019 (including 4,274 hectares of production forest; 447 hectares of protection forest). In which, centrally managed enterprises planted 137 hectares; the area of newly planted forest under the forest protection and development project reached 1.597 hectares, the area of newly planted forest planted by the people themselves reached 2.87 hectares. Timber production reached 192.3 thousand m³ of logs of all kinds, increased by 10.6% compared to 2019.

        Forest protection and management: In the year, there were 5 forest fires in the province, with a damaged forest area of 16.6 hectares and 10 cases of deforestation with 10 cases of deforestation in different areas. Localities such as Vo Nhai district with 7 crops, Dinh Hoa district with 4 crops, the damaged area is 2.5 hectares.

3. Fishery

        Aquaculture area in 2020 was 5,957 hectares, an increase of 34 hectares compared to 2019 and mainly extensive farming accounts for 73.6% and the remaining 26.4% was intensive or semi-intensive farming.  

         Total aquatic production reached 14.9 thousand tons, increased by 9.5%, in which mainly aquaculture; shrimp production was about 92 thousand tons, increased by 9.5% compared to the same period; other seafood production 294 tons accounted for a small proportion (2%) of the total.
