1. Residential living standard
2020 was the year the whole country was heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, greatly affecting the lives of all people in Thai Nguyen province. The unemployment rate increased, income was affected, but with the efforts of the people and the entire provincial government, people's lives were maintained stably and the security situation was ensured. In 2020, the per capita income reached 4.39 million VND/person/month, an increase of 0.37 million VND/person/month compared to 2019. In which, the urban area reached 6.02 million VND/person /month, rural areas reached 3.54 million VND/person/month.
The rate of rural people using hygienic water in 2020 reached 95%; The percentage of households using hygienic latrines reached 86.5%. The percentage of households using electricity for daily life from the national grid was 99.98%, inwhich 100% in urban areas and 99.98% in rural areas.
The percentage of poor households according to the multidimensional poverty line in 2020 has decreased by 2.82%.
2. Order and social safety
In 2020, there were 165 traffic accidents in the province, killing 60 people and injuring 151 people. Compared to the same period in 2019, decreased by 03 cases (-1.79%), the number of dead people decreased by 07 people (-10.45%) and the number of injured people increased by 02 people (-1.31%). In which, the area with the most accidents was Thai Nguyen city with 64 cases (accounting for 38.8% of the total), killing 14 people (accounting for 23.3%) and injuring 54 people (accounting for 35.8% of the total). 7%). The safety of railway and waterway traffic was stable and there were no traffic accidents.
In 2020, functional branches of the province have conducted fire prevention and fighting inspection at agencies and units throughout the province; the inspection has reminded the shortcomings in fire prevention and fighting and made a record of handling violations in order to limit the occurrence of fires and explosions. From December 16, 2019 to December 15, 2020, there were 76 fires in the province (decreased by 37 cases, equivalent to a decrease of 32.7% compared to the same period) causing 03 injuries and no deaths. Although the number of fires decreased, the value of property damage was large. It was estimated that the total value of damaged properties was over 70 billion VND (increasing 61 billion compared to the same period last year).
3. Damage caused by natural disaster
In the province of 2020, there were 22 natural disasters, an increase of 9 natural disasters compared to 2019. In which, there were 05 storms, tornadoes and 17 heavy rains causing flash floods. Damages 02 people died, 16 people were injured, Number of houses collapsed, swept away, total damage was 17 houses, 3.405 houses were flooded, landslides, roofs torn off, damaged, and many other crop properties. Total property damage was estimated at about 64.9 billion VND. The functional sector has mobilized local forces and vehicles to help people overcome damage, clean the environment, and ensure the stability of people's lives.
