Dong Hy: Receiving and explaining many opinions on poverty reduction and new rural building in Van Lang commune

Residents of Van Lang commune sharing and proposing many practical issues

Currently, in the 19 criteria for a new rural area, Van Lang Commune has not yet met 5 criteria: transportation, cultural infrastructure, housing for the population, income and multidimensional poverty. In 2022, the multidimensional poverty rate in the commune was 45.23% and in order to meet the criteria, the goal is to reduce the rate of poor and near-poor households to below 13% by 2024. With a democratic, objective and straightforward spirit, the residents of Van Lang Commune expressed their views 19 times, focusing on topics such as: Requesting support for impoverished households in Tan Son hamlet to build solid houses, given that some households still lack residential land; addressing issues of weak electricity and unsafe power grids in Khe Quan, Tan Son, Khe Mong and Ban Ten hamlets; highlighting the need for appropriate planning of three types of forests for both production and conservation purposes; advocating for the preservation of the culture and script of the Mong ethnic community; proposing further investment in the development of eco-tourism and community tourism in areas such as Suoi Tien, Hang Chua and Ban Ten. Besides, various issues related to public safety, environmental protection, administrative reforms, road and bridge upgrades and new rural development were raised by many participants at the Conference.

After hearing the opinions of the people, the leadership of Dong Hy District directed the relevant departments and specialized agencies to respond within their authority, functions and duties. Concluding the conference, Comrade Nguyen Van Ngoc, the Secretary of the Dong Hy District Party Committee, emphasized the significance of the dialogue work, stating that it plays a particularly important role in ensuring that the leadership of the Party and the administration at all levels align closely with the reality of people's lives, with a focus on the principle of putting the people at the center. Comrade Ngoc also affirmed that the people's opinions would be fully taken into account by the local leadership and they would provide guidance to consolidate and explain the issues, while monitoring the progress of their resolution in accordance with resource allocation and regulations. Recognizing the challenges faced by Van Lang Commune in carrying out economic and social development tasks, Comrade Ngoc expressed the hope that all levels, sectors and people from various ethnic backgrounds throughout the commune would unite, with dedication and the highest political determination, to effectively fulfill the assigned tasks. He urged them to work together, with a shared purpose and determination, to bring Van Lang Commune to the goal of becoming a new rural area by 2024.
