New appearance of Pu Don Hill Historical Site

Pu Don Hill Historical Site (also known as Phong Tuong Hill), located in Tin Keo hamlet, Phu Dinh commune, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, is where President Ho Chi Minh presided over the first ceremony awarding the rank of General to comrade Vo Nguyen Giap, Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam National Army and Militia, on May 28, 1948. This event not only marked a significant milestone in the development of the Vietnam People's Army but also demonstrated the absolute trust of the Party, the State and President Ho Chi Minh in General Vo Nguyen Giap. From this pivotal moment, General Vo Nguyen Giap led our army to achieve glorious victories, securing independence and freedom for the nation. On February 19, 2024, the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, in coordination with Military Region 1, commenced the restoration and renovation project for the Pu Don Hill Historical Site, with a total investment of nearly VND 43 billion sourced from the Ministry of National Defense’s budget. After nearly 10 months of expedited construction, the project has been completed, giving the site a new look. It is poised to become a significant cultural and historical landmark, attracting visitors from both within and outside the province while serving as an educational site to promote revolutionary traditions among future generations. Below are some images showcasing the new appearance of Pu Don Hill Historical Site:

The project was completed on schedule, meeting all architectural, technical, and artistic requirements, and is worthy of the historical and cultural significance of the National Historical Site

The Memorial House dedicated to General Vo Nguyen Giap features a relatively simple two-tiered roof architecture. However, the roof details are intricately adorned with lotus flower motifs and exquisitely carved clouds and dragons, exuding a sense of majesty, antiquity, and sacredness befitting the Heritage Site

In front of the Memorial House, finely crafted dragon motifs are carved into the green stone railings, adding a striking visual appeal

The courtyard and steps are paved with natural green moss stone slabs, which are durable, non-slip and highly resistant to wear

The Reception House is constructed in the traditional stilt house style of the Tay ethnic community in Dinh Hoa

A natural stone block engraved with the site’s name is erected near the ceremonial gate

Behind the Memorial House, a concrete retaining wall interspersed with grass has been built to enhance the landscape and prevent landslides. The lighting system is harmoniously designed, adding to the beauty of the site
