Thai Nguyen Promotes Green Transformation to Adapt to EU Green Standards

Overview of the Working Session
Within the framework of the working program, the two sides exchanged information on green transformation worldwide, opportunities for Vietnam in general and Thai Nguyen in particular, as well as solutions to promote investment and trade expansion activities in Europe. This discussion aimed to further concretize Official Dispatch No. 17/CD-TTg dated February 20, 2025, issued by the Prime Minister, which calls for proactive implementation of solutions to promote the circular economy, sustainable production and consumption, and sustainable trade in response to the European Union (EU) green policies.
In this directive, the Prime Minister requested Chairpersons of the People's Committees of provinces and centrally governed cities to enhance the implementation of local policies and action plans on sustainable production and consumption, energy efficiency, and green growth, while also adopting sustainable and circular models. Additionally, the directive encourages the development of eco-industrial park models and clusters, the promotion of circular supply chains to address urgent environmental pollution issues, efficient and sustainable resource and energy use, and the development of recycled and renewable materials.

From an expert perspective, Professor Claudio Dordi analyzed the necessity of green transformation in the global economy and shared in-depth studies on EU policies promoting green transition. He also proposed applicable solutions for green transformation in Vietnam, particularly in Thai Nguyen. The professor acknowledged Thai Nguyen as a pioneering province that has placed significant emphasis on green transformation. As an expert, he expressed his willingness to cooperate, provide consultation, and support Thai Nguyen in effectively implementing this program.

Speaking at the working session, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee of Thai Nguyen expressed sincere gratitude to Professor Claudio Dordi and the working delegation for their valuable policy recommendations and solutions to advance green transformation. The Chairman assigned the Department of Science and Technology to develop an action plan, proactively study global green transition policies, and invite Professor Claudio Dordi as an advisor to implement a scientific research project on key policies within Thai Nguyen's green transition plan for the 2026–2030 period. The Department of Finance was tasked with leading the province's green transition plan, focusing on sectors where Thai Nguyen has potential and strengths. Meanwhile, the Department of Industry and Trade was assigned to develop an implementation plan for Power Development Plan VIII, concentrating on supporting businesses in transitioning to sustainable production and business models, with an emphasis on efficient resource use and renewable energy adoption. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also emphasized the need to strengthen communication efforts to raise awareness among all sectors and the public about the green transition.
