Over 200 delegates attend the Program on exchange and development of tea culture and tea appreciation art

On December 15, at the Cultural Center for Ethnic Minorities in Dai Tu district, over 200 delegates representing various associations, cooperatives, enterprises in the province, and members involved in tea production, processing, and business attended the Program on exchange and development of tea culture and tea appreciation art shared by journalist and artisan Hoang Anh Suong. This is the 4th Program sponsored and supported by Chien Cong Industrial and Transportation Cooperative.

The Program was attended by Comrade Doan Thi Hao, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Deputy Head of the Delegation of National Assembly Deputies in charge of Thai Nguyen Province Delegation of National Assembly Deputies; leaders of the Provincial Agency Party Committee; Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and Dai Tu District leadership.  

Speaking at the Program, Comrade Doan Thi Hao emphasized: For the past years, Thai Nguyen Province has consistently prioritized resources to develop the tea industry, implementing numerous effective policies. The province has organized multiple domestic and international trade promotion activities for tea products and developed tea brand strategies linked to tourism development. These efforts have transformed tea cultivation from an economic endeavor to a representation of traditional cultural heritage, contributing to the province's tourism development. In 2023, the Traditional Tea Cultivation and Processing Knowledge of Tan Cuong was included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The Master Plan for the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region for 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, also defines "Transforming Thai Nguyen into a Tea Processing Center".

Thai Nguyen is known as "Top-rated Tea Land", with its tea culture embodying the essence of Vietnamese tea culture. Currently, tea is a key national and provincial agricultural product, with a total cultivation area of over 22,200 hectares, producing 272,800 tons of fresh tea buds annually, and generating a total tea product value of VND 13,800 billion, leading the country in tea production. With 6,602 hectares of tea plantations, Dai Tu District currently has the largest tea area in Thai Nguyen Province. Recognizing tea as a primary crop for economic development and enriching local residents, Dai Tu District has concentrated resources to develop and enhance tea crop value.

Organizing such Programs on exchange and development of tea culture and tea appreciation art at the local level is significantly meaningful in supporting producers, businesses, and managers in developing and elevating the quality and brand of Dai Tu and Thai Nguyen tea. The aim is to transform each Thai Nguyen resident into a tea and tea culture expert, helping to propagate the distinctive, rich, and characteristic flavor of Thai Nguyen tea.

At the Program, journalist and artisan Hoang Anh Suong shared about Vietnamese tea culture; the art of tea brewing and tea appreciation; solutions to preserve, promote and contribute to honoring Thai Nguyen tea culture in particular and Vietnamese tea culture in general.
