Exchange and development of tea culture and the art of Thai Nguyen tea appreciation

On February 25, Dong Hy District collaborated with Chien Cong Industrial and Transport Cooperative to organize the "Exchange on the Development of Tea Culture and the Art of Thai Nguyen Tea Appreciation" program.

The program was attended by over 300 delegates

The program was attended by leaders of departments and branches of the province; Vietnamese tea culture artisans and experts, leaders of districts and cities within the province, various organizations and units, Chien Cong Industrial and Transport Cooperative, cooperatives and businesses in the province, as well as tea producers, processors and traders from Dong Hy District.

Dong Hy District was selected as the first locality to host the "Exchange and Development of Tea Culture and Training on Tea Culture Knowledge" program in Thai Nguyen Province for 2025.

The program aims to further develop tea appreciation skills, revive, preserve and spread the value of tea culture to the community, contribute to the sustainable development of the tea industry, improve people's livelihoods and establish Thai Nguyen tea as a cultural symbol and a source of national pride.

Dong Hy District currently ranks third in the province in terms of tea cultivation area, with over 3,900 hectares. Of this, nearly 800 hectares are certified under VietGAP and organic standards, accounting for 20.5% of the district's total tea area. Seven enterprises and cooperatives have been granted planting area codes, covering a total of 41.08 hectares. The average yield of fresh tea buds exceeds 12.5 tons per hectare, with a total output of 45,500 tons, ranking second in the province. Tea is one of the key crops contributing significantly to economic development and providing sustainable livelihoods for local residents.

Representatives of cooperatives and production facilities attended the program

The district is home to over 30 processing facilities with a capacity of more than 1 ton of fresh tea buds per day, more than 1,000 manual tea processing facilities, 31 craft villages and 20 cooperatives engaged in tea production and processing. The district has 23 tea products evaluated and ranked under the OCOP program, including 20 three-star products and 3 four-star products. Production facilities have increasingly applied high technology in production, management and quality control, thereby enhancing the quality of tea products and increasing income for tea producers and processors in the area.
