Currently, Dong Hy ranks second in the province in terms of area, productivity, output and income value from tea cultivation. The district has over 3,936 hectares of tea with an output exceeding 47,400 tons. The area certified with VietGAP and organic standards reaches 620 hectares, accounting for nearly 18% of the total area; the area granted cultivation area codes is 51.58 hectares, representing 1.3% of the total area. The district has 23 tea products certified with OCOP standards rated 3-4 stars. The structure of tea varieties has changed significantly, with expanded areas for high-yield, high-quality tea cultivation; planting processes, intensive investment and processing have shown considerable progress; product quality and packaging design have been improved...

However, Dong Hy tea industry has not fully exploited its potential and advantages; household production still accounts for a large proportion; the scale of cooperatives and enterprises remains small; the linkage between enterprises, cooperatives and tea growers is not yet strong; the application of science and technology in production and processing is still limited...
Given this reality, Dong Hy district has set the goal to develop the tea industry in a sustainable and modern direction; improve quality and added value; promote safe and organic production linked with deep processing and product diversification. By 2030, the district aims to reach 4,300 hectares of tea cultivation with an output of 50,000 tons of fresh tea buds. Of this, 70% of the tea area will be certified according to VietGAP and organic standards; 70% of the area will be granted cultivation area codes. 100% of establishments producing, processing and trading tea and tea products will comply with food safety regulations. 100% of enterprises and cooperatives with tea material areas will apply digital technology in cultivation and chain management, ensuring product traceability. 25 tea products will be certified with 3-5 star OCOP standards. 100% of tea products will be marketed through e-commerce on digital platforms.

In order to realize these targets, Party committees and authorities at all levels must consider this an important and regular political task for leadership and direction; localities need to review the current land status and advantages of each area to establish and plan concentrated tea production areas according to standards; maximize protection of existing tea areas, expand production scale and replant areas that are old and low-yielding. Additionally, it is necessary to promote the application of science and technology, apply advanced quality management standards in processing and production; manage and maintain collective trademarks such as "Trai Cai Tea”, "Song Cau Tea”, "Van Han Tea” and "Hich Tea - Thai Nguyen"...; simultaneously preserve and enhance the tangible and intangible cultural values of Dong Hy tea.
