Drastic measures to ensure traffic order and safety

In 11 months of 2023, traffic accidents in Thai Nguyen province decreased in all three criteria in terms of the number of cases, deaths and injuries compared to the same period in 2022. To achieve that result, the police of Thai Nguyen province synchronously and drastically implemented measures to ensure traffic order and safety, focusing on propaganda and dissemination of the law on traffic safety to all classes of people; at the same time strengthened patrol, control, detecting and strictly handling violations on the traffic route.

Thai Nguyen police staged in propagating the law on traffic safety

During a patrol, control and handling of alcohol violations by the Traffic Police Department (Public Security of the Province) in coordination with the Police of Dai Tu district at National Highway 37, in Tien Hoi commune, Dai Tu district, after more than 2 hours of inspection, the police force detected and handled over 30 cases of motorbike riders violating alcohol limits. Lieutenant Dao Huy Hoang, Deputy Team Leader of the Traffic Police and Order Maintenance Team, Dai Tu District Police, stated: Recently, the residents of Dai Tu district have generally adhered strictly to road traffic laws. However, there still exists a segment of the population who operate vehicles after consuming alcohol, particularly motorbike riders. Additionally, minors operate vehicles without meeting the legal age requirements. Moreover, there are instances where minors create closed groups on social media to monitor and report the activities of traffic police forces, thereby avoiding detection of violations.

In order to ensure traffic safety in the province, right from the beginning of the year, the provincial public security force has actively implemented synchronous and drastic measures, focusing on promoting propaganda, education and dissemination of the law on traffic safety; constantly innovating propaganda contents, forms and measures such as: Organizing traffic safety staging and skits, traffic culture situations, answering questions related to the Law on Road Traffic … with the participation of a large number of people, especially students. Major Nguyen Nam Hung, Head of the Propaganda Team, handling violations, Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police) said: Through propaganda sessions, it has contributed to improving the quality and effectiveness of traffic safety education in educational institutions; equipping cadres, teachers, students with basic knowledge, skills about traffic safety, helping students improve self-consciousness, strictly comply with regulations when participating in traffic; at the same time, mobilize families, relatives to strictly comply with the provisions of the law on traffic safety.

Police force checked the alcohol content of drivers

In addition, the police force continues to maintain and build models of "Traffic Safety at School Gate" with the purpose of propagating about traffic safety in many forms, reducing congestion and the risk of accidents occurring in the school gate areas. These models educate awareness among students, officers, teachers, and parents to abide by Law on Road Traffic, thereby curbing traffic accidents. Furthermore, they intensified patrols, monitoring, and handling of violations related to traffic safety and public order, especially speeding, alcohol levels, stimulant substances. Special focus was given to comprehensive checks on passenger transport business cars and cargo-carrying container vehicles. They consistently maintained the Special Task Force (referred to as Team 252) to concentrate on patrolling, controlling, and addressing violations of Road Traffic Laws and other legal offenses in areas within Thai Nguyen City and adjacent districts. Their focus heightened during holidays, festive seasons, and peak times of crime prevention, especially during nighttime. Lieutenant Nguyen Trung Duc, Deputy Team Leader of the Traffic Police and Order Maintenance Team, Pho Yen City Police, mentioned: "The city police have maximized manpower and vehicle patrols 24/7 on roadways to detect and strictly address behaviors that are the primary causes of traffic accidents. In cases of violations, the traffic police enforce the law resolutely and uniformly without any restricted areas or exceptions.

Traffic police distributed flyers to propagate the Law on Road Traffic to students

In the 11 months of 2023, the provincial police force organized nearly 500 sessions to disseminate traffic safety laws, distributed over 300,000 leaflets and banners promoting Law on Road Traffic. They identified and documented over 41,000 cases of violations, including 4 cases related to drug offenses and more than 12,000 cases of exceeding alcohol limits. Administrative fines were imposed on over 36,000 cases, contributing over VND 68 billion to the state budget. Driving licenses were revoked in over 9,600 cases, and 735 cars, nearly 14,000 motorcycles, and 35 other vehicles were temporarily seized.

It is anticipated that towards the end of the year, especially before, during, and after the 2024 Lunar New Year (Year of the Dragon), the demand for travel and transportation of passengers and goods will increase significantly. This poses a potential risk of traffic accidents. The police forces across the province will continue to focus on implementing comprehensive and resolute measures to ensure traffic safety and minimize the occurrence of traffic accidents. The aim is to guarantee a safe and healthy celebration for the people during the Lunar New Year./.
