Overview of the Conference
In 2022, Thai Nguyen province implemented Decision No. 04/2022/QD-TTg dated February 18, 2022, by the Prime Minister, which stipulates criteria, procedures and processes for recognizing civilized urban standards in Thai Nguyen province. After two years of implementation, the criteria for developing wards, towns and cities to meet civilized urban standards have achieved significant results, contributing to creating a new appearance, improving people's quality of life, addressing social welfare, creating an increasingly bright-green-clean-beautiful environment, promoting cultural values and institutions and strengthening the political system's effectiveness. Various levels, sectors and localities are actively directing the construction of civilized urban areas, striving to achieve quality, effective and practical standards for civilized urban wards, towns and cities. Besides the achievements, the construction of civilized urban areas still faces certain limitations and obstacles in environmental protection and urban aesthetics; lack of land funds for public works; and some residents still lack high awareness in building civilized urban areas...

At the Conference, delegates listened to thematic reports including: Basic contents of Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW of the 11th Party Central Committee on proactively responding to climate change, strengthening resource management and environmental protection; building civilized urban areas in Thai Nguyen province from a planning - architecture perspective; mobilizing resources for developing urban lighting systems; promoting community roles in waste treatment and environmental pollution resolution contributing to civilized urban construction...

Speaking about future objectives for building civilized urban areas, the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department suggested that party committees, authorities, departments and organizations continue to innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of public relations work, especially governmental public relations. They emphasized the importance of propaganda, mobilization and creating public consensus, particularly in implementing socio-economic development projects. The focus should be on promoting socialization, concentrating resources on key infrastructure projects for transportation, entertainment areas and public spaces. Attention should be paid to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values in building and forming civilized urban lifestyles and culture. Additionally, focus should be placed on advancing information technology application in urban management, creating a transparent and easily accessible information system for residents. Emphasis should be placed on building and developing green, smart urban models that combine economic development with environmental protection.

The province currently has 33 wards and towns registered to meet civilized urban standards for the 2023-2025 period. As of October 2024, 6 out of 51 towns have achieved civilized urban standards (accounting for 11.8%), including: Cho Chu, Dinh Hoa district; Trai Cau, Dong Hy district; Du and Giang Tien, Phu Luong district; Hung Son, Dai Tu district; Huong Son, Phu Binh district. |
